High altitude airports
« on: October 17, 2014, 01:17:14 PM »
Is there a way to get TOPCAT to work for airports above 8000 ft level. Tried two times where the departure airports are above the 8000 fl level and it wont calculate.

Thanks

Hi,

Most of airliners are unable to TO from a such Altitude.
Therefore the aircraft performance are function of "pressure altitude" which is often higher if QNH is lower than 1013.25 hPa or 29.92 InchHG.

So there is interest to calculate such TO.

Best regards
Pierre

American operate the 757-200 on a daily basis from SLLP (El Alto) to KMIA and back. and they don't get any higher than SLLP  ;)
